On January 1st, 2021, we will be increasing the price of the air-cooled Invertig 221 AC/DC by $100.00; the new price of the air-cooled Invertig 221 AC/DC will be $2,595.00, without upgrades. Place an order now and beat the price increase!

The Invertig 221 AC/DC Inverter TIG Welder allows you to produce welds with all types of metals! We increased the maximum welding current by 10% to a full 220 amps of rugged welding power. We also put the machine on a diet—the Invertig 221 weighs in at only 54 lbs. so it's easy to take right to the job!

We packed the Invertig 221 with features many of our competitors don't even offer at twice the price! The Invertig 221 is the only welder in its class with independent AC amperage adjustment, which gives you precise control over the heat input to both the work piece and the tungsten by allowing you to separately adjust the electrode negative and the electrode positive amperage.

Conventional transformer TIG welders have a fixed AC frequency of 60 Hz (the same as your household current) and use a pure tungsten electrode which forms a ball when welding AC. The Invertig 221 offers you the ability to adjust the AC frequency from 20 Hz to 200 Hz—the higher AC frequency gives you a more focused arc with greater arc control. With an inverter, running a higher AC frequency, say in the 150 Hz to 200 Hz range, allows you to use Ceriated, Lanthanated, or Thoriated tungsten sharpened to a point, which:

1. Allows the arc to jump from a point instead of a ball, which provides unparalleled arc stability and reduces arc wandering.
2. Produces a more focused arc, which results in a narrower bead and makes it much easier to weld inside corners.
3. Minimizes the heat affected zone as the heat is more concentrated, which makes it easier for both the novice and professional to weld thin materials.

The Invertig 221 also gives you precise control over the AC balance (from 10 to 90%) so you can control the arc cleaning action.

Furthermore, the Invertig 221 makes an excellent DC welder. The smooth, stable arc coupled with the 221's high speed DC pulse makes intricate work on mild steel, stainless steel, Inconel, and titanium a breeze. High speed DC pulse focuses the DC arc much like the AC balance focuses the AC arc and results in more control and less arc wandering. With a pulse rate of up to 999 PPS, there isn't a job out there that the 221 can't handle.

Control of the arc is the foundation of better welds and precise results. With independent AC amperage adjustment, adjustable AC frequency, adjustable AC balance, and high speed DC pulse, the Invertig 221 gives you arc control like you never experienced before.

The Invertig 221 allows you to store up to 64 separate welding programs. Say you find a setting you really like for welding aluminum radiator tanks to cores—AC On, HF On, Max Current @ 180 amps, AC balance @ 65%, AC frequency @ 180 Hz, EP @ 60%, Pulse Frequency @ 1 Hz, Peak Time @ 80%, and Background Current @ 30%. Simply store the program and recall the program when you have another tank to core job. Assigning banks of memory slots to multiple welders allows the welders to access their personal settings in a job shop environment.

Conventional arc welding is simple with the Invertig 221. Using the Stick Mode in conjunction with the foot pedal allows you to vary the welding amperage. Perfect when doing pipe welding!

Select the touch start mode for welding aluminum or any other material without High Frequency. This is important if your application takes you near sensitive electronic equipment, such as on site repairs in a hospital or when repairing aluminum vehicles with on-board computers.

The advanced technology found in the Invertig 221 allows you to produce professional quality welds—quickly, easily, and affordable—with all types of metal. Every Invertig 221 comes with our 90-Day Money Back Guarantee. We are so sure you will love your Invertig 221 that you can try it in your own shop for 90 days. If for any reason you don't like it, we will take it back no questions asked. Further, we back the Invertig 221 with a 3-year warranty.

When you purchase an air-cooled single voltage Invertig 221, your shipment includes the single voltage (220V) Invertig 221 power source, a 17 Series air-cooled TIG welding torch (either 12.5' or 25' and with either a rigid, flex, or swivel head), a foot pedal, hand control, or both (either 12.5' or 25'), a 10' or 25' ground cable and clamp assembly, a 6' gas hose, and a flowmeter.

Holy Wow Batman!

First of all I'm new to tig welding. I had a different brand (I'll say the second biggest name in welding) for exactly 2 months. I couldn't get a good bead to save my life. In all fairness It wasn't exactly all the machines fault because the guy I sold it to laid down some nice looking welds. Anyways I got this honestly because of a couple guys I follow on youtube use this machine and I now know why. It's amazing. Night and Day. I went from JV skipped over Varsity and went straight to AAA as far as the machine anyway. I'm still a ****** tig welder (for now) but learning fast and it's really fun now.

FINALLY.. Purchased a HTP tig

Experience. HTP has the best customer service. It was a pleasure throughout the transaction. This is my second HTP product. My first was a HTP MIG 140, owned it for over 20 years. Years later I made the decision to purchase a tig welder. Now, HTP made the decision difficult as thy now offer some BAD BOY tig welders, that 400 is KILLER. After some pro and cons I made the jump. HTP Inverter Tig 221 won out. I am a hobbyist at home (professional at work) so this purchase was just right to play at home. Oh yeah I also received the classic t shirt, Drive a Lincoln-Drink a Miller-but weld with a HTP.....genius.

Best TIG for the money in the "200A class" still after all these years!

I've had mine since December 2013 and still works like a champ! I got the water-cooled package with 25ft lines and even use it as a stick welder from time to time if I need to. Loaded with features, works great on both DC and AC. Single-pass limit is roughly ¼", but with multi-pass you can obviously weld thicker if need be. You can even use the pulse on stick welding mode AND stick weld on AC if you must (with perhaps 6011 to avoid arc blow). It will also easily light up E6010 electrodes when on 240V. On the dual-voltage version that I have, on 120V input power, there is not enough arc voltage to keep 6010s lit, but other rods are no problem.
