I've only had one shield body wear out, in over 1,000 sheets cut, and that was because I let my consumables run so long the electrode melted back into the body. No complaints on this or the Ohmic Version. I've taken to changing them out every 6 months as a precaution. Seems like cheap insurance with the cost of these guys
